The realization

The boy on the hill watched his mother down in the farm yard hanging the wash. Up the hill he could see his father plowing the field with his mules. At That moment he knew of the existance of God.

A Franciscan in a non Franciscan community

Franciscans are supposed to live somewhat in community. At least be able to gather with others for comunity, prayer, sharing, ect. What of the case for one who lives too far to get to fratinity? It appears that one is alone in one's thoughts and far from the Franciscan ideal. In this case blogging seems a viable answer. Any opinions?

Someone of like mind

I am happy to have had a comment to my blog. I managed to return the comment however I have no idea how to return to the persons site. I am having a lot of dificulty getting to other blogs on "Franciscan Values".

K of C Logo

Why the KofC logo when you are a Secular Franciscan? Easy. As a Secular Franciscan I am obliged within my inner self, to do something within the Catholic Church to further the cause of Christ. In my case I felt compelled by the Spirit to do something that would bring the men of the parish together. There had been a KofC Round Table (smaller than a council) that was inactive. Reluctantly I talked with a few of the former members. Soon I once again, reluctantly, found myself attempting to grow an organisation. To make a long story short, the men did not want to have meetings in the evening. We cured that by having a Saturday morning breakfast once a month. We now have over 20 men getting to know one another over a meal.....Peace be with you!

Why a Franciscan.

Perhaps it was the fact that my great aunt was a Franciscan Nun. Perhaps it was vanity that I could be something special, that others would notice. Perhaps a mixture of the above. After a lifetime of searching for something, anything that would bring me closer to my Lord, I found my particular path, in the Secular Franciscan Order. Now, after more than ten years, I realize that like Francis, I am just a speck in the eyes of the Catholic Church. And this is as it should be. Let those who would be leader of all become servers of all. Now there are no more windmills to chase.
